Richard Valerga

Rich Valerga has worked to transform technological and educational landscapes in service of scholars and communities across multiple education sectors. As the chief operating officer for Acero Schools of Chicago, Valerga leads a dynamic and mission-driven team that was first focused on network turn-around, restructuring and digital transformation and now advances new frontiers of district-wide operational excellence in finance, information technology, data privacy, real estate management, compliance and food services. Rich draws upon his post-Hurricane Katrina experience to rebuild New Orleans schools and recent opportunities to serve learners first entirely remotely and later in a hybrid environment to enable optimal student engagement with minimal disruption and maximum learning outcomes.

Rich is a proud 2020 recipient of Chicago-ISACA’s Excellence Award and a 2012 Center for Digital Education Top 50 Education Innovator. He is an IT contributor to Tech and Learning Magazine. Rich earned his Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from the University of Phoenix. He resides in Chicagoland, is married and is the proud father of four children.
