Upcoming Acero Schools Board Meeting
The Acero Board of Directors will meet on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, beginning at 6:00 p.m. This meeting will occur at Jovita Idar Elementary School, an Acero school, located at 5050 S Homan Ave Chicago, IL 60632.
The Board agenda is posted 48 hours before the meeting.
Please see Acero's Public Comment and Translation Process below to participate in an upcoming Board meeting.
- Date of the meeting at which the requestor would like to speak;
- Name of person requesting to make public comment;
- Whether requestor is a parent, student, employee, or member of the community;
- Contact information;
- Clear description of the matter to be discussed before the Board; and
- If a translator is needed.
- Presentations shall be limited to issues of concern before the Board or related to Acero Schools and shall not contain comments of a personal nature directed towards individual Directors, Acero Schools employees, contractors, volunteers, or any other individual. However, any school-based concerns can be shared at the campus level. Comments containing explicit political endorsements, confidential student matters, obscenities, or otherwise disrupting the business to be conducted at the meeting are prohibited. Additionally, comments regarding pending competitive procurements are prohibited.
- A maximum of twenty (20) speakers may appear before the Board at each meeting of the Board.
- Individuals appearing before the Board will each be allotted three (3) minutes to make their public comments. The total time allotted for public comment shall not exceed 60 minutes to ensure the Board’s ability to address all Acero Schools business matters.
- The public comment period is an opportunity for the Board to listen to members of the Acero Schools community. The Board will not respond to comments or attempt to answer questions during the public comment period. Any requests that do not comply with these guidelines will not be approved. Any individual scheduled to address the Board who fails to abide by these guidelines while speaking to the Board may be asked to leave the meeting or facility.
- Hand-held posters, placards, banners, or other signage are prohibited during a Board meeting.
- Board meeting attendees who are disruptive may be given a warning and, if necessary, removed from the meeting. Any individual removed from a meeting as a result of disruptive behavior may forfeit their right of reentry to future Board meetings.
