Next month the students will be competing in the Conference Finals at the University of Chicago in order to qualify for the City Championship.
The competitions are hosted by the Chicago Debate League, which promotes debate as a way to inspire students to take charge of their learning, dive deeply into complex issues, become critical thinkers and problem-solvers, and find their voice. The students study and debate on complex topics of public policy in a rigorous format that demands reading and synthesis of complex texts, research, critical thinking, use of evidence to support every claim and nimble responses to unexpected arguments.
